Welcome to the Book Club

I love to read. I always have and probably always will.
I love reading a book and immersing myself into a different world. It’s beautiful. It’s captivating. It’s magical.
I read when I’m bored, I read when to destress, I read to block out the annoying people on the bus and just to pass time. I read a lot. And it's a perfect to spend a chilly Autumn day curled up with a book - and a hot cup of tea :)I thought it would be fun to start this little “reading club” of sorts and just talk about books I’ve read or want to read.
Today I’m going to talk about some of my favourite books, as well as briefly touch upon the books I’ve read recently.

HARRY POTTER
My one true love. You may not know this about me, but I am a HUGE Potterhead. Harry Potter is my number one and will be forever. I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve read this series. Even though I know very well what happens, it never ceases to gain my interest and amaze me. Every time, I get suckered into the magic. I don’t know if I could pick a favourite book out of the series. My least favourite might be the first and second book; purely because the story line really develops and is much more intense afterwards. I really do love them all though! Ps. I’m a Ravenclaw Pps. Expect more HP content in the future ;)

THE INFERNAL DEVICES

This trilogy is a prequel to the Mortal Instruments series. I love the whole Shadow Hunter world and I’ve read all the books – from all the different series in there. However, TID just seems to be my favourite. It takes place in early London and I just really like the characters. I think they have more depth and dimension to them than Clary and Jace. The dynamic of the main trio is very intriguing and the books are page turners. It really captivates your attention.

CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC
I love Sophie Kinsella. I think she creates really fun characters and stories. This series (and her other books) are my go to novels for when I want something light to read. You don’t need to think too much and the story lines are easy going and not too intense. The characters are quirky and relatable and will make you laugh along with them. These books are a perfect comedy with some heart felt moments. I personally thing her books are underrated. Another one of my favourites from her is, I’ve Got Your Number.

THE LOVERS DICTIONARY
This book is a piece of art. Although it barely takes a day to read because it’s so short – it is beautifully written. It’s fluid and makes me think of poetry. The story does not offer tons of details, but it still manages to be captivating. It’s raw and it’s real.

I've recently read:

Witch Fire (first book) and Witch Storm (the second) from a series called The Banned and Banished. I believe there are 5 books in the series. They were recommended to me from a lady at work. She gave me the first 2 novels to read and I'm waiting for the others to finish the series.
The series has almost every supernatural creature you can think of. It reminds me a bit of LOTR and HP mixed together. It took me a little bit to get into the story because the language is more sophisticated, I guess. Over all, it is a good read for any fantasy lover out there!
I just finished reading John Green's latest novel, Turtles all the Way Down.
I really enjoyed this book. I don't know if it's exactly on the same level as Looking for Alaska or TFIOS. It was good though. I liked how he described the characters anxiety and how it affected everyone in her life too. The plot wasn't something that captivated me and I wish we got into more depth with the other characters. As his other books, the characters did have some great lines that really make you think. I love what Davis would say about the sky. All in all, the book is definitely worth a read.

As of right now, I am almost finished reading Cocktails for Three by Madeleine Wickham (Sophie Kinsella).

If you're not familiar with her writing. Sophie Kinsella's more "mature" novels are written under the name Madeleine Wickham. This novel isn't bad. It's light with a touch of drama. I do tend to prefer her novels written under Sophie Kinsela because the books are more fun and the main characters are all same in the way that they're witty, stylish and a bit naive.
I would recommend this book if you enjoy that style of easy read novel. I can give more of an update once I'm finished it.

After this I'll be back off to Chapters to find some new books to read!
I would love for you guys to tell me what books you enjoy and give me some suggestions on what to read next.

Until next time,
